What is an .ERF file?
ERF files are raw image files created by select Epson digital cameras, such as the Epson R-D1 series. They contain minimally processed image data captured by the camera's sensor, preserving more of the original color and exposure information than a standard, compressed image. Photographers can use this additional image data to make detailed adjustments to exposure, white balance, color, and other settings during photo editing.
You may encounter an ERF file when transferring photos from an older Epson camera or memory card, accessing a photographer's archived image collection, recovering photos from a backup drive, or downloading sample RAW images for editing.
