What is an .MEF file?
MEF files are raw image files created by the Mamiya ZD medium-format digital camera and by compatible Mamiya 645 AFD cameras equipped with a ZD digital back. The files retain much of the original image data recorded by the camera's sensor rather than applying the extensive processing used for JPEG images, giving photographers more latitude to fine-tune exposure, white balance, color, and other aspects of a photograph during editing.
You may encounter an MEF file when transferring photos from an older Mamiya camera or digital camera, retrieving images from a memory card, working with archived professional photography projects, or opening RAW images from a backup or photo library.
