What is an .OMA file?

OMA files are audio files saved in the Sony OpenMG (OMA) format, which was developed for use with Sony digital music players and the SonicStage software. The format stores compressed audio data, typically encoded using ATRAC, and may include digital rights management (DRM) to control playback and distribution. OMA files were designed specifically for Sony's ecosystem and are not widely supported by standard media players.

You may encounter OMA files when transferring music from older Sony Walkman devices, accessing legacy SonicStage libraries, or working with archived ATRAC-based audio collections. File Viewer Plus can play OMA files and convert them to more common formats, such as MP3 or M4A.
