What is a .VQF file?
VQF files are audio files saved in the TwinVQ (VQF) format, which was Yamaha developed for compressing digital audio at relatively low bitrates. The format stores lossy-compressed audio data to reduce file size while maintaining acceptable sound quality for music playback. VQF files were designed as an alternative to formats like MP3, but never achieved widespread adoption and are not widely supported by standard media players.
You may encounter VQF files when working with older digital music collections, accessing archived audio from legacy encoding tools, or exploring uncommon audio formats from the late 1990s. File Viewer Plus can play VQF files and convert them to MP3 or M4A formats to improve compatibility with devices and media players.
