What is a .VTX file?
Microsoft Visio (2010 and earlier) creates VTX files to store templates of technical drawings, such as flowcharts, database models, and organizational charts. VTX files are saved in XML format similar to VDX files but are used to store the layout and settings of a drawing to create other drawings with similar content and design. The VTX format was used by earlier versions of Microsoft Visio but was replaced by the VSTX format with the release of Visio 2013.
Although VTX files are no longer common, you may still encounter them in business settings today. Co-workers may send you VTX files via email or you may discover old VTX diagram templates on your computer. You can open and view VTX drawing templates with File Viewer Plus and save the drawings as PDF files or JPEG or PNG images.
