What is a .XLTX file?

XLTX files are created by Microsoft Excel to store spreadsheet templates. The files were introduced with the release of Microsoft Excel 2007, replacing XLT templates as the default Excel template format. The templates are typically used to create multiple XLSX spreadsheets with similar design and content as the template. XLTX files may be used to store spreadsheet templates for various purposes, such as personal budgets, company payroll, or church donations.

Microsoft Excel comes with pre-designed XLTX templates, but Excel users can create their own XLTX files, as well. You may receive XLTX files attached to emails from co-workers, family members, or friends looking to share a spreadsheet layout with you. You can use File Viewer Plus to open and edit XLTX files. Or you can convert XLTX files to other formats, including XLSX, PDF, and CSV.
